Apple Wallet or something else? You'll get a choice soon
Apple will allow us to install applications that will replace Apple Wallet. One of them will be made by a British fintech.
Curve is known, among other things, as a way to bypass the lack of contactless payments on many Huawei smartphones. However, Fintech has become famous for the fact that in its application it allows you to first pay for purchases and only then choose from which account the money will be withdrawn. One payment card can replace many others issued in different banks.
Fintech Curve announces a competitor to Apple Wallet.
If only Apple wouldn't cause any problems
Currently The Apple Wallet app is the only way to pay contactlessly with iPhones. New European Union regulations are intended to change this and open the way for others. This is part of the fight against the restrictions that Apple imposes on users. The same act – the Digital Markets Act – forced Apple to allow the installation of applications from outside the App Store in the EU. This is already bearing fruit.
Curve is already rubbing its hands because it has experience in providing NFC payments to demanding customers. Apple is apparently still polishing technical details, but as soon as this process is finished, Curve wants to launch its application in EU countries. This should be possible this year. The question is how many obstacles Apple will throw at its competitors. Apparently it still limits access to the hardware security of the NFC chip in iPhones, which is why alternative payment systems may be slower than Apple Pay.
Curve promises a lot of benefits. Customers are to receive a much better application, focused on user needs. At the same time, the application Curve is intended to replace Apple Wallet, including a system shortcut for quickly starting payments (double pressing the iPhone power button). Banks are expected to save millions of euros on transactions. You need to know that Apple does not let them pass without taking “a few pennies” for themselves.
Curve wants to be the first, but it won't be the only one.
