“The Order: The Silent Brotherhood” now on HBO

As can be seen from this year’s Oscars (as many as 6 statuettes went to the film “One Battle After Another”), thrillers about extremists in America are very popular. In addition to the Hollywood star – Jud Law, the following also appeared on the screen: Nicholas Hoult, Jurnee Smollett, Tye Sheridan and Marc Marcon. The production director is Justin Kurzel.

The police thriller starring Jude Law caused quite a stir on Prime Video. The film became famous mainly due to the fact that most American cinemas refused to broadcast it. The reason – they were afraid to show it. All because there was too high a chance that it might be perceived as too current. Despite the fact that the film takes place in the 1980s, all concerns were related to fueling political tensions when Trump returned to the White House. Simply put, no one wanted any circles to treat the plot elements as an inspiration for extremist actions.

It was mainly about too easy access to weapons in the US and the emergence of an increasing number of hate groups. It was the overall tone of the film that made it difficult occurrence in wide distribution.

And although “The Order” bypassed cinemas, the decision to release the film to streaming turned out to be a very good one. The film, although it appeared on Prime Video with a long delay, was appreciated and gained not only great press, but also really good reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave it as many as 90% positive reviews, considering it one of the best thrillers of 2025. Now we also have the opportunity to watch it on HBO Max.
