This is how he paid for his purchases. Now he faces 8 years in prison
Up to 8 years in prison for souvenir payments
Polish law tries to prosecute and severely punish schemers, especially those who expose other entities, e.g. shops, to financial losses. We once wrote about a case where a 16-year-old boy paid for food in a restaurant with money from a board game. Now we are dealing with the case of a 45-year-old who was carried away by his imagination and decided to pay for his purchases with a souvenir. Unfortunately, he may face severe legal consequences for such an offense.
The entire incident took place a month ago, in February. The report was received from the manager of one of the stores located in KoĊskie. The woman brought a PLN 200 banknote with her, which one of the customers used to pay for her purchases. The banknote was confusingly similar to the original, but it had the information “souvenir” on it. And as we know, this type of money is not and never will be any means of payment.
Unfortunately, the cashier working in the store did not notice this inscription and considered the banknote to be authentic. The case has only now been reported to the police and investigation activities have begun, but they will most likely take place in court.
The police pay attention to carefully check the banknotes that pass through our hands. Those marked with the inscription “souvenir” are gift money, intended for fun or educational purposes. Please note that they are not a means of payment. An attempt to pay with such money is considered an attempt at fraud, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to 8 years.
