Samsung has learned its lesson. Galaxy Z Fold8 will get a larger battery

The Galaxy Club website has reached the new technical specifications of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. According to it, the upcoming model will receive two separate batteries with a larger capacity than before. One half of the case will accommodate a 2,485 mAh cell, the other half will receive a 2,369 mAh battery. The total physical capacity of both parts is 4854 mAh.

Manufacturers usually round this parameter in promotional materials. The typical capacity provided by Samsung will probably be 5000 mAh in this case. This represents an increase of approximately 13 percent over last year’s model. The predecessor was powered by a two-piece battery with a capacity of 4,400 mAh.

Samsung has been using 4400 mAh batteries continuously since the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold3. The older variant, Galaxy Z Fold2, had a 4,500 mAh cell. Customers have been waiting for this element to be enlarged for a long time. The short operating time on a single charge was one of the most serious drawbacks of previous generations.

Early reports additionally suggest a lighter design throughout the phone. However, the available leaks do not indicate whether the company will offer faster charging. However, changing the capacity itself is a big step forward.

Competition in the foldable devices segment is constantly growing. Apple’s first foldable iPhone will have a 5,500 mAh battery. This will be a big challenge for the Korean manufacturer. We also cannot forget about Honor foldables, which house a battery with a capacity of up to 6660 mAh (the latest Magic V6) in a slim housing. The fight for device operating time will become very visible this year.

Samsung plans to simultaneously premiere a second variant called Wide Fold. It is to offer a battery with a typical capacity of 4800 mAh. The basic Galaxy Z Fold8 will therefore have a larger battery than the special version.
