This Anbernic handheld will fit your PlayStation 2 in your pocket
The available information shows that the heart of the upcoming console is an eight-core processor Rockchip RK3576 – it will be the first retro device on the market using this system. The chip, made using the 8 nm technological process, consists of four efficient Cortex-A72 cores and four energy-saving Cortex-A53 cores. The image is displayed on 5.5-inch IPS touch screen with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and 60 Hz refresh rate. In turn, it is responsible for the power supply battery with a capacity of 5000 mAhwhich supports 18W fast charging.
The biggest differentiator of the Pro variant is the handling two operating systems. The device, unlike the basic RG Vita model locked on Android 12, offers the ability to run both the newer Android 14 and 64-bit Linux. Unofficial reports indicate that the software is being developed in cooperation with the creators of the respected GammaOS, which is to be a huge qualitative leap compared to the manufacturer’s sluggish factory overlays.
Anbernic announces that RG Vita Pro will perfectly cope with more demanding emulation. The shared video material was presented smooth operation of PS2 hits (including Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, Neo Contra), PS Vita (Gravity Rush, Adventures of Mana, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2). The handheld will also allow you to support games from GameCube, Nintendo N64, 3DS, Wii (e.g. Muramasa: The Demon Blade) or PSP (God of War). The console also supports platforms such as the first PlayStation and Sega Dreamcast, and from Android it natively supports newer mobile games, including Punishing: Gray Raven and Snowbreak.
The Anbernic RG Vita Pro has it on board WiFi 6which guarantees low latency when streaming AAA games from a PC, and Bluetooth 5.0, which allows for convenient connection of external pads. The device will work also in stationary mode. Thanks to the USB-C port with support for DisplayPort (1080p), you can connect to the monitor in two-screen mode, while a separate HDMI connector allows you to connect the console directly to the TV.
Anbernic RG Vita Pro will be available in two classic colors: black and white. The manufacturer only officially informs that the premiere will take place soonwhich may happen as early as March. Unfortunately, the final price of the device remains a secret.
