Changes from March 3. For this you can get a fine of up to PLN 1,000

As of March 3, changes to road traffic law have entered into force in Poland. Parents of children under 13 years of age may be surprised. If they do not comply with the new regulations, they may receive a fine of up to PLN 1,000.

As of today, regulations in force in Poland prohibit children under 13 years of age from riding electric scooters on public roads. Previously, there was a 10-year limit, but it was changed due to numerous accidents caused by the youngest road users.

What does it mean that they cannot drive on public roads? Driving is allowed only in residential zones (sign D-40) and only under the supervision of an adult guardian. Therefore, you can ride on residential sidewalks or internal roads. In addition, it should also be remembered that minors who use electric scooters must have appropriate permissions – a bicycle card or a driving license of category AM, A1, B1 or T.

Riding a scooter without following the regulations, i.e. without a license or before obtaining the appropriate age, may result in a fine being imposed on the guardian. The Petty Offense Code provides for a maximum fine of PLN 1,000.
