The foldable iPhone will arrive together with the 18 Pro. Here’s what we know about him

Mass production of displays for foldable iPhone will start in July. This date coincides with the schedule for the models iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple commissioned the preparation of screens exclusively to Samsung, rejecting LG Display’s offer. The reason were technical difficulties in producing dies for this project.

It is supposed to be the main rival to Apple’s foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Wide Fold (final name may be different). The Korean smartphone will probably go on sale a little earlier, together with the model Galaxy Z Fold8. Customers will get to know this extended hardware format before the premiere from Cupertino.

Interestingly, analysts advise refraining from purchasing the first generation of the foldable iPhone. The hardware platform requires time to refine.

Based on the reports so far, you can have some idea about the specifications of the foldable iPhone (let’s call it iPhone Fold). The project received an internal designation V68. The phone opens in the form of a book, and the internal screen has a diagonal 7.8 inches. Cover display measures 5.5 inches. Engineers used a special hinge to eliminate the crease visible in foldable smartphones where the screen bends.

Must have a smartphone battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh. This value exceeds the capacity of the cells in the Galaxy Z Fold series models (4400 mAh). The design of the device forced opting out of the Face ID system. The manufacturer will restore here Touch ID reader. The authorization module will remain integrated with the power button. It’s similar in foldable Samsung phones.

Unfolded, iPhone Fold is thick 4.5 millimeters. After folding, this dimension is: 9 millimeters. The device does not have a physical SIM card slot, offering only eSIM standard. Camera kit includes two 48 megapixel units on the rear panel.

There will be a high-resolution camera inside the housing 24 Mpix. The foldable iPhone will be a premium product. Market experts predict a starting price of $2,500. In Poland, this will translate into a significant amount exceeding PLN 10,000.

The official presentation of the iPhone 18 Pro/ Pro Max and iPhone Fold smartphones is expected in September 2026. The basic iPhone 18 may debut a little later, in 2027 (some sources say).
