Confidential emails? Microsoft 365 Copilot doesn’t care
Theoretically, Microsoft 365 Copilot supports confidential emails. In practice, the AI embedded in it doesn’t really care. Thus, as Microsoft itself admits, the language model prepares summaries of confidential messages and has been doing so since January 21.
More specifically, it is the Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat component, which is responsible, among other things, for preparing this type of summaries, and it mediates contact with other AIs. It even operates on confidential messages from the Sent and Drafts directories. The good news is that confidential emails from the Inbox are still out of his reach.
As Microsoft itself admitted:
A code issue causes items from the sent and draft folders to be received by Copilot even if confidential labels are set.
It is now known that Microsoft is slowly implementing a patch to eliminate this error. However, it is unclear when it will be available to general users.
