Let’s assume you want to buy a new phone. No problem – in stores you will find a huge selection of devices in virtually every possible shape, color and price. The problem is that most of them are absolutely gigantic. Devices with displays larger than 6.5″ have become the standard, and we can curse as much as we want, but there’s not much we can do about it.

Fortunately, if we look hard enough, we can find it some smaller equipment can still be found in stores. To help you a bit, we decided to choose the best models in our opinion the type that, apart from their small size, has something more to offer.

On the following pages you will find the five best “small” phones in our opinion. Since the term itself is imprecise, let’s assume that a small phone should have one display with a diagonal of no more than 6.3″ and width less than 75 mm. “Should” is the key word here, because we allow for minor deviations as long as the model still seems sufficiently compact, even if it does not fit within these arbitrary frameworks.

The main criteria at the selection stage were: availability and profitability. We only took into account phones that can currently be easily found in stores and which can boast a good price/performance ratio.

As a reference point, we took prices in large, well-known stores, where we do not have to worry about potential disruptions in connection with the execution of the order or subsequent complaints.

The phones are listed alphabetically. The exception is “Editor’s Choice”, which you will find at the end of the article. Of course, if you would like to add something to our list or have another favorite, be sure to share it in the comments section!

Google Pixel 9a it is somewhat of a benchmark Android smartphone. The phone can be proud of being the equipment signed by the Mountain View giant itself the “cleanest” version of the system, great integration with the entire manufacturer’s ecosystem and promise up to seven major updates. And these are just the advantages related to the software – it gets even more interesting when we look at the hardware here.

Because this one is also impressive for equipment that is considered average in the manufacturer’s portfolio. Here we can find, for example, a display P-OLED diagonal 6.3″ and excellent parameters, original and very efficient processor Google Tensor G4 and a large capacity battery for this type of equipment 5100 mAh. The whole thing was, of course, closed in waterproof housing (IP68).

The biggest compromise with the Google Pixel 9a is the camera. We get a double unit with resolution modules 48 and 13 Mpix. Thanks to the almost magical skills of engineers from Mountain View, even these modest parameters can produce a phenomenal image, but if you want absolutely flagship quality photography, you have to choose models Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 10 Pro. These are also an interesting proposition in the category of compact smartphones, but – quite honestly – for most users they will not be worth the extra price compared to the version with “a” in the name.

Paradoxically, most small smartphones are premium models and as such, they can have very high prices. Fortunately, there are exceptions to this rule, and one of the best is hands down Motorola Edge 50 Neo.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo is a phone that tempts primarily with its appearance. The device is available in several attractive color versions developed together with Pantoneand in its slim body (71.2mm wide) managed to fit the display P-OLED with a diagonal of up to 6.4″. To put it simply, even compared to the competition, we get more of a “smartphone within a smartphone”. And if that wasn’t enough, Motka is still there waterproof (IP68)to this drop-resistant (MIL-STD-810H) and in its class it boasts an efficient processor (Mediatek Dimensity 7300).

Where’s the catch? Mainly in the battery, the capacity of which is only 4310 mAh. However, we have some tears to wipe away fast charging via USB (68 W) and wireless charging (15W). It’s a phone so well-equipped and so cost-effective that it would probably be our favorite to be called the best small smartphone on the market, if it weren’t for one “flaw” – its successor, the Motorola Edge 60 Neo, will soon be available in stores, which in theory should be even better. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this text, we can still only speculate about this, as the availability of the new model is very limited.

Samsung Galaxy S25 it’s a certainty – a phone that can be recommended to absolutely everyone and will turn out to be at least about 80 percent of the right choice. By the way, it is also one of the better small smartphones on the market.

What speaks in its favor? In addition to the proven brand, Samsung Galaxy S25 also offers great quality of workmanship and high performance offered by the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and perfect display Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X diagonal 6.2”. The phone runs Android 15 with the One UI 8 overlay, which is still one of the best on the market (i.e., unless you have allergies, the AI ​​functions that can be found here can be found at every step). In addition, the Koreans are among the pioneers when it comes to long-term support for their devices – the Galaxy S25 is promised as many as seven major updates.

Unfortunately, despite the long list of advantages, the Samsung Galaxy S25 also has a problem. The manufacturer is trying hard to convince us that a small automatic phone must be worse, therefore The basic variant of the “S” seems to be much stripped down compared to its bigger brothers – e.g. when it comes to cameras or fast charging. And yet, despite this, it remains a device that is very easy to recommend.

In fact, even older models from the Galaxy S series remain a very attractive proposition. If you would like to save a few hundred at the expense of slightly shorter support and lower performance, Samsung Galaxy S24and even Samsung Galaxy S23 they can still be a tasty morsel.

If you are looking for something a bit more “exotic”, you can go for it Vivo X200 FE. This is a phone that came and proved that small phones do not have to be worse than the “large frying pans” that other manufacturers have been serving us for years.

What do we get on board? First of all, the display LTPO AMOLED diagonal 6.31” with high resolution and excellent parameters (peak brightness is up to 5000 nits according to the manufacturer’s declaration). The heart of the device is Mediatek Dimensity 9300+which can easily compete in performance tests with top Snapdragons. And cameras! We get a set of three “eyes” developed together with Zeiss, including a periscope telescope, which is a real rarity among compact models.

For many people, the main attraction will be a battery with a capacity of up to 6500 mAh, which additionally supports fast charging with 90 W power. Oh, and did I mention that it’s all housed in a Class I waterproof housingP68/IP69? I don’t know how it all fit inside, but the specifications of this device sound like magic.

Although, of course, not everything is as great as it might seem at first glance. When choosing Vivo X200 FE, you have to take into account several compromises, including: with a very short period of declared support for a phone for this money (only four major updates). In general, however, it is a very interesting proposition for anyone who is looking for a small phone with enormous possibilities.

This phone had to come here. For years, iPhones have been the bastion of users looking for a small, neat premium smartphone. Apple iPhone 17 continues the traditions of its predecessors, although it has to face extremely strong competition in this field.

And he comes out of this fight unscathed. Even if it doesn’t outclass its rivals, it lacks absolutely nothing in terms of specifications. Excellent quality of workmanship using an aluminum frame and glass Ceramic Shield 2powerful processor Apple A19unique features such as Face ID and Apple Pay and excellent cooperation within the Apple ecosystem, best-in-class video, etc. All in all, it would take a long time to list the advantages of the new iPhone, but if you follow the mobile industry at least a little, you know most of this litany.

The most important thing is that for the first time in a long time, the basic iPhone does not seem to have been deliberately “neutered” by the manufacturer. Sure, we still won’t find all the functions reserved for the Pro variants, but the biggest flaw of the predecessors, which was the display, has been fixed. The new model has a panel LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED diagonal 6.3″ and excellent parameters. First of all, it supports refreshing 120Hz and always-on display function. Combined with the refreshed design, this makes iPhone 17 the biggest evolution the series has seen in years.

Obviously, the iPhone 17 will not convince people who are skeptical about Apple equipment. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be – you can always choose any other model from our list. I guarantee that they are all equally good in their category. However, if you have ever thought about buying a phone with an apple on the casing, this is probably the best opportunity to do so. There hasn’t been, and probably won’t be for a long time, an iPhone as successful and profitable as the iPhone 17.
