Kaspersky is disappearing from the market. Successor grabs a million users at once

Pango Group to gain about one million users, or all of Kaspersky Lab’s American customers, after the US banned sales of Russian antivirus software.

Kaspersky is open until the end of September

Recall that Kaspersky Labs has closed its office in the US, and since July 15, purchasing its acclaimed antivirus software there has been impossible. The US government restrictions, which ban the sale of Kaspersky software, including downloading updates, reselling and licensing the product, are set to go into effect on September 29.

Pango will take over customers

However, customers will not be left out in the cold. All Kaspersky Lab customers will be taken over Pango Group company. This is a cybersecurity company that will now take care of about 1 million Kaspersky users. This is significant because if not for this agreement, current Kaspersky customers in the US would be left out in the cold. At the end of the month, they would stop receiving software updates for the antivirus tool.

The good news for Kaspersky customers is that they don’t actually have to do anything.

Customers don’t really have to take any action. We’ll outline the things they need to know and need to know in a series of emails. Then, our customer service team will be ready to help.

– Neill Feather, president and COO of Pango, told Axios.

Once this transformation is complete, former Kaspersky customers will be completely cut off from the Russian company’s intellectual property. The U.S. government feared that the Kremlin could pressure Kaspersky to allow government spies to eavesdrop on U.S. customers’ devices.
