Microsoft Flight Simulator will be updated at least until 2028

Microsoft is proud of its simulator and will not abandon players

The current version of Microsoft Flight Simulator was released in August 2020 on PC and later expanded to Xbox Series X and S consoles in July 2021, with availability on Xbox Game Pass. New statistics about the game were revealed during a presentation at FlightSim Expo 2024 in Las Vegas, which was broadcast live on the game’s YouTube channel.

During the presentation, Jorg Neumann, head of the Microsoft Flight Simulator game series, and Sebastian Wloch, CEO of the game’s main developer, Asobo Studio, spoke. At first they announced that the current version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 now has 15 million unique users. They added that this is the highest number of unique users in the history of flight simulators.

From 2020 players have completed a billion flights, of which 230 million flights took place in the last six months. The content creators for the game have already created almost 5,000 additions to the titleincluding new planes, city updates, airports, missions and more.

The presentation highlighted the dedication of Microsoft Flight Simulator fans and the development team’s efforts to connect with the community. This includes virtual flight meetings and weekly development broadcastsas well as attending real aviation events such as Reno Race Days and Alaska Aviation Days.

As the game’s creators assure, it is present the 2020 edition will continue to receive almost monthly updates until at least 2028. These updates will include new planes, city and world updates, and other content.

And all this despite plans to release a new title, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, on November 19 this year. The game will be available to Game Pass subscribers on the day of release at no additional cost.
