World record broken! There has never been such a fast processor before
SoonHo Jeong, known in the industry as SAFEDISK, broke the world record. He did this using an Intel Core i9-14900K processor.
Every now and then we hear about new world records in the world of hardware. Sometimes you manage to beat the highest clock speed, and sometimes you beat the result in some popular benchmark. This time, SoonHo ‘SAFEDISK’ Jeong from South Korea did the latter. This is not only a world record, but also the first time it was possible to go below a certain ceiling.
SuperPi world record
SAFEDISK achieved this using an Intel Core i9-14900K processor that was overclocked to 8449.22 MHz. This was possible not only thanks to liquid nitrogen cooling, but also by limiting the number of cores and threads to just 4 (normally a CPU has 24 cores and 32 threads). The system is combined with the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEC Encore motherboard and G.Skill memories, which have been overclocked to DDR5-9000+ (CL32-48-48-36-2T).
Then, the Korean ran the popular SuperPi test using such a set. For the first time in history, the result was achieved in under 3 minutes. The exact result is 2 minutes and 59.919 seconds. For comparison, the standard Core i9-14900K performs a similar task in about 5 minutes and 45 seconds, so the improvement is significant. In turn, the competitive Ryzen 9 7950X needs approximately 6 minutes and 12 seconds.
