Windows is broken. Thousands cannot work remotely
Microsoft has prepared an update package for Windows 11 and Windows 10. Traditionally, it was sent to the world on the last Tuesday of the month. Many people have problems because of this, because an important function has stopped working.
Microsoft has broken an important part of the system
Update for Windows 11 (KB5036893) and Windows 10 (KB5036892) damaged a function used by many remote workers – VPN, i.e. the ability to connect to a virtual, private network. So if you were planning to work during your May trip, but you can't access the company network, you now know why. It is worth noting that the error does not occur on all computers, but many users report it.
Microsoft acknowledged the error but did not provide details. We have a guide for people who need a working VPN. Microsoft refers to the “Get Help” system app, but it doesn't seem particularly helpful in this situation. There is no other workaround for now. You can only uninstall the problematic patch yourself and pause updates in the settings.
All that remains is to wait for the next patch. Microsoft has already announced its release, but does not specify the date.
The problem also affects users of Windows Server, versions from 2008 to 2022.
