Which iPhone 15 has the best battery life? The answer is surprising
According to Apple, the iPhone 15 Pro Max should be the champion with an impressive battery life of up to 29 hours of video playback. Is this really the case in practice? A YouTuber conducted a test to verify this.
Every year, the question of autonomy is crucial when the new iPhones are released. This time, not one, but seven models were put to the test in a rigorous autonomy test conducted by Mrwhosetheboss, after the durability tests of the widely followed JerryRigEverything. And if we expected a battle between the most recent and high-end models, the reality turned out to be more complex.
Until now, the iPhone 13 Pro Max was the battery life record holder. Last year’s models failed to dethrone it. But this year there has been a changing of the guard. The iPhone 15 Pro, with a battery life of 9 hours 20 minutes, was placed penultimate in this comparison, just ahead of the iPhone 14.
For those who expected a revolution in energy efficiency with Apple’s new architecture, the A17 Pro, the result is rather disappointing. The standard iPhone 15 model outperformed the iPhone 15 Pro by achieving almost 10 hours of battery life, or 37 minutes more.
This is certainly not a huge difference, but it is still significant. In second place, we find the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a battery life of 11:41, outperforming both the iPhone 13 Pro Max (11:19) and the iPhone 14 Pro Max (10:54).
The underdog becomes champion: the iPhone 15 Plus
The most surprising thing about these tests is that the iPhone 15 Plus eclipsed all other models by achieving a battery life of 13 hours and 19 minutes. Why such a marked difference? This could be an optimal balance between components and Apple’s new system-on-a-chip (SoC). The latter integrates energy-efficient cores which could make all the difference when the phone is under little use.
Note that it is unwise to judge the performance of different models based solely on these endurance tests. In any case, not just these tests. But, from what we can see, if battery life is your main criterion, the iPhone 15 Plus seems to be the obvious choice.
