WhatsApp fires up rigor. Better turn it on right now

WhatsApp introduces stronger security

WhatsApp, as one of the most popular messengers in the world, is often a source of attacks on users. That’s one of the reasons why Meta is introducing new, rigorous security measures into the application.

At WhatsApp, we believe that chats should be as private as in-person conversations. We believe that every person has the right to privacy, and our use of end-to-end encryption reflects this. We also know that some of our users, such as journalists or public figures, may need protection against rare and highly sophisticated cyberattacks.

In light of this, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature it calls “strict account settings.” It can be activated in the application options in the Privacy > Advanced tab. If we do this, some of the messenger’s activities will be limited. This includes blocking attachments and multimedia from people we do not have in our contacts.

Strict account settings will be rolled out gradually over the next few weeks, so they won’t appear for all users at the same time. This is certainly an option worth activating, because it will make life significantly more difficult for people who would like to take over our account or data.
