We know everything before the imminent arrival of the Fairphone 5. This smartphone, focused on ethical and environmentally friendly production, has stood out from the industry giants with its original and responsible approach. While its official release is scheduled in a few hours, a major leak of information regarding its characteristics has taken place.

A notable upgrade

According to the information revealed by WinFuture, the device has notable improvements over its predecessor, the Fairphone 4.

Here are the main features revealed:

Memory and storage: it would be proposed exclusively with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB flash memoryexpandable via a microSD card reader.
Increased modularity: the Fairphone 5 would now count eleven modules, compared to eight for the previous model. This increased modularity allows users to order parts such as cameras, SIM card slot or display separately, making repair easier and extending the life of the device.
Operating system: the smartphone would run on Android 13 with an update guarantee for eight yearsalthough only security patches are confirmed at this time.
Design and display: it would be offered in black, blue and a partially transparent design IP55 certifiedthe Fairphone 5 is equipped witha 6.46-inch OLED screen at 90 Hz with a resolution of 2770 x 1224 pixels. In addition, the selfie camera, housed in a small punch-hole, has a 50-megapixel sensor.
Camera: The back of the smartphone has a main camera and an ultra wide angle camera, both equipped with a 50 megapixel sensor, capable of recording in 4K quality.
Performance and connectivity: under the hood, the Fairphone 5 would be powered by a Qualcomm QCM6490 processor, comparable to the Snapdragon 778G. It also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

The Fairphone 5 would be marketed at the price of 699 eurosan increase of 120 euros compared to its predecessor.
