We finally know the price of the electric Opel Astra, and it’s an excellent surprise compared to the Peugeot e-308
A few months after its reveal, the new electric Opel Astra finally reveals its prices for France. With an entry ticket priced at 40,990 euros, the electric compact is significantly more interesting than its cousin, the Peugeot e-308.
Like all manufacturers present in Europe, Opel will have to accelerate electrification, while thermal models will be banned from sale from 2035. But the firm fortunately already has a fairly well-stocked range, with its Corsa and Mokka-e as well as its Combo-e Life and other Zafira-e Life.
A favorable price
But now another alternative has finally arrived in the catalog. This is the Opel Astra Electric, which enriches the compact range, already made up of thermal and plug-in hybrid versions. In fact, the firm had been working on such a variant for a while, since the latter had already been mentioned since August 2022.
But the arrival of this version was actually not really a surprise, because the compact shares its underside with the Peugeot 308, which also has a zero-emission variant. We were actually able to get behind the wheel a few days earlier. It was therefore logical that Opel offered the same treatment to its compact. A few months after trying it, the latter gives us news and now reveals its range of prices.

And good surprise, these are much lower than those of the Peugeot e-308, which starts as a reminder from 43,900 euros. A fairly high price, which did not fail to appeal. Fortunately, customers will be able to turn to the Astra, which displays an entry ticket for 40,990 euros in its entry-level version. And good news, the brand’s website already displays a nice discount of 1,500 euros.
It is possible toget the compact for 39,490 euros, an amount from which the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros must then be deducted. The latter should remain next year, since the Astra is manufactured in Germany. A major argument compared to some of its rivals such as the Tesla Model 3, which will be deprived of government aid because it is assembled in China and the United States.
An interesting endowment
In its entry-level version, the new electric Opel Astra offers a fairly attractive package, although slightly less extensive than the 308. Customers will be able to take advantage of the non-adaptive cruise control and parking sensors front and rear. Added to this are also 18-inch rims, automatic emergency braking as well as three USB ports and keyless start.
It is also possible to opt for the more high-end GS finish, which displays a starting price of 42,990 euros. Here again, Opel applies a discount to go down to 41,490 euros. For this price, the equipment is obviously more numerous. The compact is in fact delivered as standard with 360 degree panoramic visionadaptive cruise control or even dual-zone automatic air conditioning.
All this for a price lower than that of a Peugeot e-308 Allure, which should hurt the latter. Especially since the two cousins also share the same engine. For the record, the Opel Astra indeed embarks an electric motor with 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, which can also be found under the hood of the Jeep Avenger, DS 3 E-Tense and other recently tested Fiat 600e. Like the e-308, an estate version should also arrive later.
The compact resumes the battery of 54 gross kWh (51 kWh) already well known within the Stellantis group. The latter offers it a range of 418 kilometers in the mixed cycle according to WLTP approval. Recharging takes place from 10 to 80% in around thirty minutes on a 100 kW direct current terminal and demand 5h45 on an 11 kW wallbox in alternating current.
