Czeka nas przełom na rynku SSD. Wszystko dzięki Koreańczykom

We are about to experience a breakthrough in the SSD market. All thanks to the Koreans

It looks like SK hynix is working on new SSD memories. There’s a chance we’ll see 400-layer NAND next year.

Although there are a huge number of SSDs available in stores from many different companies, most of them use the same components. There are only a few major memory chip manufacturers on the market. These include entities such as Micron (USA), Kioxia (Japan), YMTC (China) and Samsung and SK hynix (South Korea).

SK hynix could gain a big advantage in the NAND market

Industry sources indicate that SK hynix is working on developing 400-layer NANDand their mass production is to start in the second half of 2025. This would be a big leap forward compared to current solutions, which would allow offering much larger and more efficient SSDs.

By comparison, Samsung just started production of 290-layer V-NAND and is aiming for more than 1,000 layers by 2030. Micron started production of 276-layer 3D NAND in July, and Kioxia hits 218-layer in 2023.

To achieve your goal, SK hynix intends to use hybrid bonding technology with structure “wafer-to-wafer” (W2W). This approach differs significantly from the current method “Peripheral Under Cell” (PUC). Current R&D includes research on new materials and technologies for connecting silicon wafers.

The Koreans refused to comment on these rumors.without revealing any details about the development of the new memories or the expected timeline of the work. This suggests that the process is in its early stages and that possible delays are not ruled out.
