The end of support for Windows 10 is approaching. The deadline is October 14, 2025. After this time this one the operating system will not receive updates safety. Well, unless you pay.
Microsoft revealed that Windows 10 owners can extend security update support for a full year, but for a fee of 30 US dollars (PLN 120.18). according to the NBP exchange rate from November 1, 2024).
People who decide to extend security support will receive additional security updates for the next 12 months – until October 14, 2026. After that time individual users will no longer be able to extend support at all.
The exception will be here companies and educational institutions that will be able to pay for two additional years of support – until October 2028. From this privilege private individuals will not be able to benefit.
What can owners of Windows 10 computers do then to ensure that their devices remain safe and not exposed to potential attacks? Microsoft recommends switching to Windows 11, but not every computer with Windows 10 meets the requirements, so this extension of technical support is the only hope. After October 2026, you can expect Windows 10 support to slowly drop from developers, although this won’t happen immediately.
According to statistics quoted by Windows Central, 60% of Windows platform users are on Windows 10, which is 900 million people. Windows 11% is used by 30% of Windows platform users, which translates into approximately 500 million.
