Want to buy a GeForce RTX 40 graphics card? You might have a problem
Starting next month, buying a GeForce RTX 40 graphics card could be very difficult. Supply shortages are coming due to problems with GDDR6X memory.
GeForce RTX 40 is one of the most popular graphics cards among gamers. Although the premiere of the first new generation models is approaching with great strides, many people are still eager to reach for the Lovelace architecture. The thing is, from next month it may be difficult due to production problems.
Worse availability of graphics cards
Starting next month, availability of GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards may be severely limited. This is reportedly caused by a faulty batch of GDDR6X memory supplied by Micron. They failed quality control and had to be returned, so production will be lower than expected.
The good news is that the worse availability is expected to be temporary and will not last long. The situation is expected to be the worst in the case of the GeForce RTX 4070 models, but it may also be more difficult to buy the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. The remaining NVIDIA models, as well as AMD designs, use GDDR6 memory (without X), so the problem does not affect them.
Please note that the above information has not been confirmed by NVIDIA, so it should be treated as a rumor.
