vote for your favorite music-themed shot

It’s time to vote for your favorite photo in the second edition of CssTricks’s music-themed photo contest.

Last week, we announced the theme for CssTricks’s second regular photo contest. After the competition on the theme of the sun, the imposed subject this time was that of the music.

The theme seems to have inspired you less since there were fewer entries than in the first contest. Probably the theme, more abstract, was more complicated to grasp. Of which note, we will try to find more meaningful subjects for the next editions.

After a week during which you were able to send us your submissions, we finally selected the photos of Jules, Renaud, Gaëtan and Franck. A small point to note, while the first edition gave pride of place to photos taken with smartphones, three of the four photos selected this time were captured with a dedicated camera, reflex or hybrid.

Not being a musician, I have very few photos on the theme of music but I hope you will like this one. This photo was taken by my Pixel 6a last spring. This mic belongs to a guitarist friend who also sings. I edited this photo using Snapseed, LightX and Google Photos.

Photograph taken during the Celtic Festivals of Montardon (small town in the Pyrénées Atlantiques near Pau) this year. Made with a Nikon D610.

Photo taken during an urbex exploration, in an abandoned mansion around Rennes. The piano was there, all alone in the middle of a huge empty room. The photo was only slightly developed in Lightroom (mainly contrast).

Franck’s photo: diorama

This photo was composed for a club challenge. Rolls of corrugated cardboard for the background, a small box with coasters for the piano, I made the characters with electrical wires dressed in cord, the faces are bottle caps, seat and hat with caps and caps, the guitar made for this occasion. The scene is lit by different colored mini spots, and all with a little patience.
