Uber in Poland is up to 50% more expensive. Changes coming in June
In June, new regulations will come into force, according to which every driver employed to transport people will have to have a Polish driving license. Uber predicts that this could mean a price increase of up to 50 percent.
The new law enters into force on June 17. From that date, every driver employed to transport people will have to have a Polish driving license. Of course, this can be done by people who are not citizens of our country, but they must stay in Poland for at least 185 days. Moreover, the procedure itself takes some time. Uber says this will impact the price of rides.
Uber price increase
Michał Konowrocki, who serves as the managing director for passengers at Uber, said in an interview with DGP that, according to estimates, from 15 to even 30 percent will leave the company. drivers. In turn, the TOR Economic Advisory Team predicts that the number of drivers throughout the country may decrease by 10 percent, and in Warsaw by even 30 percent.
Fewer drivers mean poorer availability of taxis, and therefore higher prices. Unofficially, there is talk of an increase of up to 50%., but I find it a bit hard to believe. The new law will be felt primarily by the inhabitants of Warsaw and the price increases may indeed be high there, but there is no such threat in other parts of Poland.
The new regulations are the previous government's response to reports of “abuse, including harassment, committed by road transport drivers and the need to eliminate these abuses.”
