Double leak for Samsung today: after the Galaxy S24, it’s the turn of the Galaxy S24 Ultra to see its design and potential details revealed. Enough to get a first glimpse of what the perhaps best smartphone of 2024 could offer. Two new features would appear, which can already be found on the iPhone.
At the house of CssTricks, we consider the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to be the best Android smartphone of 2023. This is why we are particularly waiting for its successor, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. That’s good: after a leak today of the Galaxy S24, its big brother is entitled to it too, with OnLeaks and SmartPrix. The models are also expected for January 2024.
A design that could be further refined
No major changes between the two versions, but small touches of improvement on the design. First of all, the screen would be the same size: a diagonal of 6.8 inches. However, Samsung reportedly “ made remarkable progress in reducing the framework “, writing SmartPrix based on information from Onleaks. An even thinner frame, for a symmetrical design. Its dimensions would then be approximately 162.3 by 79 by 8.7 mm: shorter, but wider than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. We would also lose 0.2 mm of thickness on the device.
Samsung would also take an idea from Apple: that of the titanium frame. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have it and it could be the turn of the S24 Ultra to benefit from it. Enough to lighten the smartphone by one gram depending on SmartPrix, to reach 233 grams. The smartphone would be IP68 certified and therefore resistant to water and dust. The fingerprint sensor would still be located under the screen.
On the screen side, it would be an Amoled panel with WQHD+ definition. It would also be LTPO, which would allow it to have a variable refresh rate that could go down to 1 Hz. As for maximum brightness, the S24 Ultra would take a step forward by going up to 2200 cd/m², where its predecessor reached 1750 cd/m² maximum.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra could be the king of photos
This smartphone is obviously expected around the corner in the photo. Previous rumors speak of a 200 MP main photo sensor, which could be the Isocell HP25X with a size of 1/1.3 inch. It would also have phase detection autofocus called Super Quad, a technology found on cameras. Pixel binning would of course be included, with four pixels in one or sixteen pixels in one.
To complete this, the S24 Ultra would be equipped with a 50 Mpx x5 telephoto lens, which should significantly improve the quality of the photos. We would also find a 12 Mpx ultra-wide-angle, a 10 Mpx x3 telephoto lens as well as a 12 Mpx selfie sensor. Surprise then, the Galaxy S24 Ultra would abandon the X10, which was nevertheless one of the stars of the previous models.
What we know about its technical sheet
Confirming previous rumors, the battery capacity should not change for OnLeaks: 5000 mAh still. All with a maximum charging power of 45W, like last year.
While the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ would be entitled to Exynos chips after the S23 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, this would not be the case for the Ultra version. The leak indicates that it would be entitled exclusively to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 said “ for Galaxy », namely a modified version of this SoC dedicated to Samsung smartphones. What augurs well for good performances. This would go against the grain of many rumors which indicated the return of an Exynos across the entire range. To be continued.

The real novelty of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
OnLeaks reveals that Samsung would integrate a UWB (for ultra-wideband) chip on its high-end smartphone, in the right edge. This chip allows you to more precisely locate your connected objects, such as your connected key ring. It has been found in particular on iPhones for several years.
Why not find your SmartTag 2: it is a Samsung key ring which could soon be released. Moreover, it could be presented at the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
