Turn it off here, turn it on there. Windows 11 will get a useful new feature
One of Apple’s greatest advantages is systemic integration between various devices. In the case of Android, it is more difficult because Google has no control over Windows, the most popular computer system. However, Microsoft itself is trying to make PCs better connected to smartphones. This is evidenced by a new feature available in the test version of Windows 11.
Windows 11 and Android
Tests of the new function began in August last year. Then Microsoft announced that users of Android mobile devices will be able to close the application on their smartphone or tablet and resume its operation on the computer. Spotify was cited as an example.
Now Cross-Device Resumeas this feature is called, has been added to Windows 11 in versions 26100.7701 and 26200.7701 (they are available in the Release Preview channel for Insider program users).
The Redmond company assures that the ability to resume work on the computer will not be limited only to Spotify. More applications supporting the Cross-Device Resume function will be added over time. The list already includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web browsers.
Additionally, owners of Honor, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo and Xiaomi phones will be able to open files stored in the cloud on their computer via the Copilot mobile application.
