Thousands of Poles have such equipment. It may catch fire
The popular Philips 2000 and 3000 series cordless vacuum cleaners have faulty batteries. The manufacturer honestly warns customers to remain vigilant.
No one needs to be made aware of the fact that lithium-ion batteries can be unreliable. Take the infamous Samsung Galaxy Note 7 as an example. The difference is that this time the axis of the confusion is not the smartphone, but the vacuum cleaner.
More specifically, Philips cordless vacuum cleaners of the 2000 and 3000 series, and even more precisely their following models: XC2011, XC2012, XC3031, XC3032, XC3033, XC3131, XC3132, XC3133.
Batteries used in the above devices. VC3991A-PJH and XV1633 may overheat and catch fire – warns the authorized licensee of the brand, Versuni Poland, which immediately informed the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection about the risk.
We are voluntarily recalling Philips 2000 Series and Philips 3000 Series Cordless Vacuum Cleaner batteries due to an identified battery-related vulnerability that could cause the battery to potentially overheat and possibly catch fire after the product has experienced a significant impact, such as a severe fall or series of falls
– we read in the official statement.
The good news is that customers are not left out in the cold. They were promised free replacement of defective packages.
Meanwhile, it was also recommended to discharge currently existing faulty batteries and then immediately dispose of them. The risk associated with their continued use is apparently not high, but still.
