This smartphone manufacturer is already a huge group: it is Nio, a Chinese manufacturer of electric cars. They have just announced a high-end smartphone with a physical action button capable of controlling your electric car.
The convergence between automotive and mobile technologies took a new step today with the announcement of the first smartphone from Nio, one of the best-known electric car brands in China. Dubbed the Nio Phone, this smartphone is not just another high-end Android smartphone; it marks a considerable step forward in the integration of electric vehicles and personal mobility.
Technical characteristics: more than just a smartphone
The Nio Phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology and not one, but three cameras of 50 megapixels each. The telephoto lens is announced at 2.8x. This last point brings the Nio Phone closer to competitors such as the Oppo Find X6 in terms of camera features. The smartphone also comes with a robust 5,200 mAh battery, 12-16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. The screen is 6.81 inches diagonal, 2K definition, 120 Hz with a curved profile.
For fans of fast charging, the Nio Phone doesn’t disappoint either. It supports 66 watts of wired charging and 50 watts of wireless charging, ensuring you’ll never be far from a fast charge whether you’re at home or in your car.
What really sets the Nio Phone apart is its dedicated button allowing you to control your Nio electric vehicle with no less than 30 different functions. Not only can you start your car, but you can also manage the battery charge, adjust internal settings, and even locate your vehicle in a crowded parking lot. It’s an unprecedented integration that paves the way for a completely integrated user experience, making the smartphone a natural extension of your electric car. However, note that the new iPhone 15 Pro will be able to do the same thanks to the action button associated with shortcuts.
The model Performance would cost around 845 euros, the Flagship around 897 euros and theEPedition swould be around 975 euros. For the moment, Nio intends to market its smartphone only to Nio customers.
