This is what the new Android looks like on your computer. Leaked materials
It has long been known that Google is working hard to port Android to computers. The system is to somehow replace Chrome OS, which probably did not fully live up to expectations. The new software is to be called Aluminum OS and we just found out what it looks like in practice.
Android on computers
The appearance of Aluminum OS was leaked in a rather unusual way. There is a report on Google’s official website about an error with Chrome tabs in incognito mode. There would be nothing extraordinary about it if it weren’t for the fact that it was presented on Android in the computer version.
The system described as ALOS (Aluminum OS) was running on an HP Elite Dragonfly 13.5 Chromebook with a 12th generation Intel Core (Alder Lake-U) system from 2021. It should not be surprising that the new version of Android is being tested on Chromebooks.
Aluminum OS is like other operating systems on your computer. At the bottom there is a bar with the most important applications. In the upper right corner we have the date and current time. In turn, the top left corner contains information about the battery status, Wi-Fi connection, language and – in this particular case – also the screen recording icon. Each app also has a standard set of buttons for minimizing, full screen, and closing.
The whole thing looks very neat, even minimalist. For now, it is not known when the system would debut, but it seems that the work is already very advanced. Perhaps we will learn more details at the Google I/O series event, which will probably take place in May.
