This crazy electric SUV concept embodies excess and luxury
After the Battista, the coachbuilder and manufacturer Pininfarina lifts the veil on an unprecedented concept, taking the name of Pura Vision. The latter undoubtedly announces the arrival of a future very high-end electric SUV, which displays a completely new design.
Remember, it was in 2018. At that time, Pininfarina lifted the veil on its PF-Zero concept for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The latter took the form of a sleek supercar, which was later renamed Pininfarina Battista. It was then in 2020 that its series production began.
A high-end SUV
The sports car had become the fastest production car in the world, ahead of the Tesla Model S Plaid, the Lucid Air as well as many thermal models. But the coachbuilder, who over time has become a manufacturer in its own right, obviously does not want to stop on such a good path and prepares other novelties for the future.
This is how the Italian firm has just lifted the veil on its latest creation. The latter this time takes the form of a cconcept car called Pura Vision. It will take its first steps in front of the public during Monterey Car Week, which will begin on August 17 and end on the 20th of the same month.
This study of style aims to introduce “a new era of electric luxuryaccording to the company’s statement and will inspire the next generation of electric cars it will produce in the future. Moreover, the Pura Vision will be presented alongside the Battista Edizione Nino Farina andanother car of the brand which has not yet been unveiled.
The manufacturer is already showing us a series of photos, allowing us to have a good overview of its design. Unsurprisingly, the lines are very clean and mark a turning point compared to the Battista, with its more tortured features. According to Pininfarina, the sloping bonnet and the fenders are particularly inspired by the Cisitalia of 1947the first car to enter MoMA in New York.
100% electric
The proportions are surprising to say the least, with its huge wheels whose size has not been announced, as well as its very high waistline and its reduced glazed surfaces. The front end is also worth a look, with its ribbed bonnet and its very discreet lights, integrated into a thin black band. Below is a slightly more aggressive shield.
At the rear, the design is just as sleek overall, with horizontal lights and a tailgate without the slightest superfluous line. There are also two air intakes to increase aerodynamics. On the other hand, the manufacturer does not communicate on the Cx (coefficient of drag) of its concept car, which should be quite low.
For the record, the record for a production car is held by the Mercedes EQS, with only 0.20. The Pininfarina Pura Vision displays generous dimensions, with 5.22 meters long, 1.64 meters high and 2.15 meters wide. A beautiful baby equipped with a very luxurious and modern driving position, covered with a fabric made up of 30% wool and 70% recycled polyester. For the time being, the size of the screens has not been revealed, nor their functionalities.
The manufacturer has not given any information on the engine of this concept, which is obviously 100% electric. It now remains to be seen whether it will be available a little later in a series version, which is more than likely. He would then be able to hunt on the lands of the Tesla Model X or the Faraday Future FF91, which will finally see the light of day.
