They heal people’s hearts with a “cosmic dryer”. Amazing effects

Scientists from Austria were able to regenerate heart tissue from patients after bypass surgery. For this they used gentle sound waves from a specific tool.

The study was conducted in Austria on 63 people. The scientists decided regenerate damaged tissue by using gentle sound waves shortly after bypass surgery, reports the BBC. This process was to continue approximately 10 minutes by stimulating the growth of new blood vessels around the damaged area. This happens using a special device called by researchers “space dryer”, emitting sound waves. It is worth adding that a similar technique is already used in other medical cases, such as damaged tendons. Now the heart will also be added to this list.

Patients felt the difference

Results about this study appeared in the European Heart Journal. We can read there that half of the respondents constituted the control group. The rest were treated with additional sound waves under general anesthesia. One year after surgery, an increase in the amount of oxygenated blood pumped by the heart was almost twice as high in the first group (almost 12%). In addition, these patients were also able to walk more without rest and reported greater satisfaction with their quality of life.

However, the researchers noted that they need further studies to investigate long-term effects of such therapy and confirm the results in a wider group of patients. In parallel, the team hopes that the device will be approved by European regulatory authorities and will be available to every patient next year.
