These will be 4 strong episodes. The outstanding work of the 20th century returns to the screens
“Lord of the Flies” in a new version. What’s all the fuss about?
The four-episode series will debut on Sunday, February 8 on BBC One, with new episodes appearing weekly at 9 p.m. The BBC and iPlayer will make all episodes available on launch day.
It is nothing more than an adaptation of the cult novel by William Golding (winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1983), which was now undertaken by screenwriter Jack Thorn and director Marc Munden. The miniseries comes from Sony’s Eleven studio and is produced for the BBC. International distribution rights are held by Sony Pictures Television.
“Lord of the Flies” trailer itself already has that “something” in it
The 40-second trailer shows a group of shipwrecked boys (over 30 of them) facing a new reality on a nameless island in the Pacific. Of course, they are completely isolated from society and there are no adults on the island. It must also be admitted that everything starts in a very cultured and civilized way.
“We have to think about food and shelter. We have to help each other and be good companions.”
However, not everything will go according to these words. Led by Ralph (Winston Sawyers) and supported by the intellectual Piggy (David McKenn), the boys try to organize. However, you quickly find an individual who wants to become a leader. Just like in the book, the boys turn against each other and lose their youthful innocence before our eyes, and the attempt to build their own society on the island ends in disaster.
