The Witcher 3 stolen. The source code has been released online
A ransomware group called HelloKity is back, only together as HelloGookie. On this occasion, they shared passwords, among others, for the previously stolen source code of The Witcher 3.
HelloKitty was once a very famous ransomware group that, among other things, hacked into CD Projekt RED servers in 2021. They then stole, among other things, the source codes for The Witcher 3 and Gwent, as well as the Red Engine. Now they are back under the new name HelloGookie.
The Witcher 3 source code
On the occasion of the return, one of the group members, known as Gookee or kapuchino, shared the encryption keys for the previously stolen Witcher 3 source code, as well as data stolen in 2022 from Cisco.
A group of developers have already used files stolen from CD Projekt RED and successfully compiled a working version of The Witcher 3. In total, the data has a capacity of as much as 450 GB and also contains the source code of Gwent, Cyberpunk 2077, as well as the SDK of several consoles, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Following the return of HelloKitty ransomware group (now HelloGookie), the individuals behind HelloKitty ransomware group released more files from CD Projekt Red – the game studio behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077.

HelloKitty was a ransomware operation launched in November 2020, known for attacking corporate networks, stealing data and encrypting systems.
