The taxman will call Poles on the carpet. He has already received the receipts
Online sales platforms (Vinted, OLX, Allegro, Booking and Airbnb) had until the end of January to submit data on sellers to the tax office. What does this mean for these people? We translate.
The tax office received the Poles’ data
By the end of January, all online sales platforms must submit data to the National Tax Administration. The regulations entered into force in July 2024. Last year, the tax office immediately received information for two years because Poland was late in implementing the DAC7 directive. This year, KAS will receive data for the entire year 2025.
The regulations apply to people whose sales in a given year exceeded either 30 transactions or the total amount of PLN 2,000. euro. If you are on such a list, you have probably been asked by OLX, Allegro or Vinted to complete a special form. However, there is no reason to panic. If your data was sent to the tax office, it does not immediately mean an audit by the tax office. A lot depends on what you were selling.
First of all, DAC7 did not introduce any new tax. This has always had to be paid, some people simply either did not know about it or cleverly avoided it, hoping that the tax office would not find out about it. Now the tax office receives clear information on this subject, so figuring things out is much more difficult.
In addition, the earning aspect is also very important. For example, selling used items at prices lower than we bought them does not generate profit, so there is no need to pay tax. The same applies to private items, i.e. items that have been in our possession for at least 6 months. The regulations are aimed at detecting people who have turned this into a permanent source of income and have so far been avoiding taxes.
