Card payments are becoming more and more popular. It happens more and more often that we don’t even have cash with us, but we only rely on this option. Many of us cannot imagine going shopping or going to a restaurant without this option. But what if the seller or waiter refuses to pay without cash? It turns out that there is a rule that is on the client’s side.
Sooner or later a store or restaurant will refuse to pay by card. In recent days, A lot of confusion was caused by the case of the star of “Kitchen Revolutions”, Magda Gessler, who decided to pay by card during a visit to a restaurant, but was refused in response. She was told that the facility does not support this form of payment. And this sparked quite a discussion under the video. What actually happens with this type of payments? What does the law say on this matter? Can the seller actually refuse to provide us with this type of service?
Many people may be surprised, but under the law, the correct answer is… yes. The seller may do so. The only form of payment that is obligatory everywhere, with a few exceptions, is cash. In addition, the entrepreneur must provide the customer with one form of non-cash transaction.
– this is how lawyer Marcin Kruszewski commented on the case on his TikTok.

Providing one cashless transaction for the customer. What does this mean in practice?
Sellers and restaurateurs can offer us payment by BLIK or traditional transfer. It doesn’t have to be a payment card. The regulations do not require entrepreneurs to have a terminal. However, it is worth remembering that another principle may be more important than the law. The customer is more likely to return where he or she has encountered a more convenient form of payment.
