The RAM crisis is getting out of control. Companies are looking for help in China

Growing crisis on the memory market is starting to take a greater toll on OEMs. DRAM prices increased quarter by quarter by up to several hundred percent. Meaning that the largest players such as HP, Dell, Acer and ASUS began to look for alternatives. They are to hold talks with the Chinese CXMT. The goal is to start the certification process for DDR5 modules and potentially implement them in computers before the end of the year.

CXMT may have a problem due to lack of access to ASML machines

There is more and more talk about Chinese memories entering Western consumer productsalthough so far the main barrier has been the lack of full verification. However, if the reports are confirmed, CXMT can be considered a viable alternative to traditional suppliers such as Samsung, SK hynix and Micron. Especially since these companies are currently focusing their attention on the AI market and data centers.

Additionally, the Chinese company is preparing for a stock exchange debut, and possible large contracts with Western computer manufacturers could significantly strengthen its position, making it a key supplier of memory in China. This, in turn, increases the pressure for a quick agreement with brands such as HP or Dell, which still dominate in offices and schools.

For now, there is no specific schedule that would indicate when CXMT modules will hit laptops and desktops. The question about production possibilities also remains crucial. If the Chinese offer too little or too much, many companies will stick to products from Korea and the USA. Then Chinese DRAM will only be available in selected models for the Chinese market.
