The Polish electric car Izera still has an uphill challenge. The new government has not abandoned the project, but is expected to look for another source of financing for it. Meanwhile, time is running out. ElectroMobility Poland still wants to build the factory, but it lacks time and money, reports Puls Biznesu.
What’s next for Izera?
ElectroMobility Poland is fighting against time. Although it is known where the electrician factory is to be built and a contractor has been selected, there is still no money that would allow the project to be finalized. Meanwhile, 2 years have passed since the contract with the Chinese company Geely was signed, which means that it will soon expire. Łukasz Maliczenko, vice-president of EMP, warns that the Chinese may withdraw.
I see a high risk that a delay in the financing process may lead to the need to reconsider our cooperation or even build it with someone else. It would be a big loss and a wasted opportunity.

However, the problem is not only time. Even more important is money. ElectroMobility Poland has already received PLN 580 million from state-owned companies to create a factory and an electric car. This is not enough. It is estimated that another EUR 2-3 billion will be needed to complete the project.
