Fraud on a bank employee

The whole story took place in Poznań. On November 15, officers of the police station in Poznań received a report from one of the companies, which showed that one of the employees left the workplace in panic after finishing a telephone conversation. The woman seemed visibly shaken and ran out without a word of explanation. The co-workers were so surprised by the employee’s behavior that they decided to immediately notify the police. The police went to the woman’s apartment and there it turned out that the woman was talking on the phone with a person who pretended to be a bank employee. The fake banker scared her that her savings in her account were at risk. He instructed her to withdraw all the funds immediately and then deposit them into a special “secure account”. The woman received instructions and an order to act quickly. When the officers found her in the apartment, the woman had already prepared PLN 100,000, which she intended to deposit into the account provided by the fraudsters.

Fortunately, everything was prevented in time. The police explained to the woman that she was a victim of fraud.

We remind you that when it comes to fraud, this criminals are especially fond of employees of banks and financial institutions. Two years ago, fraudsters committed over 90,000 frauds on the Internet, and in the first half of this year – 56,000. One of the most frequently used schemes of criminals is to defraud a bank employee. There is one way to deal with such a phone call – we hang up immediately and call the bank ourselves.
