Pimax is a Chinese company founded in 2015 that operates in the virtual reality market. This manufacturer has already produced at least twelve different VR sets and another dozen or so patents. They are known among users who need top specifications, mainly in the business segment.

The user can choose between QLED and Micro OLED

Today during the event Frontier 2024 two new pairs of goggles were presented – Pimax Crystal Great and Pimax Crystal Light. Both are dedicated to working with a computer (so-called PCVR), but the first one tempts with its possibilities, while the second one is a weaker option with a much better price.

Pimax Crystal are great the world's first goggles that allow you to replace optics. Screens and lenses are uniform modules, and the user can choose matrices QLED and Micro OLED. In the first case, we are talking about resolution 3840 x 3840 px per eye and 120 Hzin the second one it's already 4K per eye and 90 Hz.

The manufacturer boasts record-breaking field of view (FOV) and the coefficient on the level 50-57 PPD, so pixels per angle. Of course, there was also plenty 6DoF, i.e. tracking both rotary and transition axes. Suggested price is from $1,799 (approx. PLN 7,289)shipping will start in Q4 2024.

Pimax Crystal Light is a more affordable option using non-replaceable screens QLED or Micro LEDwhich offer resolution 2880 x 2880 px for each eye and refresh rate up to 120 Hz. We also get zone dimming here, but we are talking about older lenses that offer “only” 35 PPD.
