The government has decided. Energy and gas prices will be unfreezed from July
We already know what the government is preparing in terms of electricity prices. From July they will be unfrozen, but in return some of us will receive an energy voucher.
It is practically certain that from July 1, electricity and gas prices in Poland will be unfreezed. This was confirmed by the Minister of Climate, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, in an interview with Fakt. What does this mean for Poles’ wallets?
The government will unfreeze electricity prices
Paulina Hennig-Kloska, head of the Ministry of Climate, announced that electricity and gas prices will be unfreezed from July. It cost as much as PLN 30 billion annually, which politicians believe is unacceptable because this money could be used for other purposes, e.g. health care, education or seniors.
Unfreezing prices may mean large increases in bills for many Poles. Therefore, the government is preparing additional solutions to eliminate this problem.
We want to unfreeze prices so that it is not noticeable to society. Our predecessors allowed State Treasury companies to generate gigantic profits at our expense, which politicians transferred from one pocket to another and gave to us for electricity bills. We want to ensure that the excess profits of companies are replaced by lower tariffs and prices that are more acceptable to people.
– said Paulina Hennig-Kloska.
The government carried out its own calculations of how much Poles’ bills would increase. According to the Minister of Climate, it would be desirable if the increases did not exceed PLN 30 per month. However, an energy voucher will be prepared for the poorest people, which will provide them with additional support. Its amount is not yet known because inter-ministerial consultations are still ongoing.
