Od dzisiaj nowe przepisy, także w Polsce

The EU will help you repair your equipment. New law from July 30

As of Tuesday (July 30), new regulations have come into force across the European Union, including Poland. Fortunately, this time they are beneficial to consumers.

Today (July 30), the EU directive on the right to repair came into force. On the one hand, it is intended to encourage consumers to repair broken devices and exchange them for new ones. On the other hand, it places specific requirements on manufacturers.

Right to repair

First of all, the new EU directive obliges equipment manufacturers to make spare parts for their equipment available to unauthorized service providers. Until now, repairs were often not profitable either due to the lack of some components or the construction of the devices themselves.

The European Union wants to put an end to this. This is one of the reasons why an online platform with all repair services will be launchedbut also the parts that may be required for this repair.

In addition, the repairs themselves, even after the warranty period, are to be offered at reasonable prices and carried out as quickly as possible. In this way, repair is actually supposed to be more cost-effective than replacing the equipment with a new one. Additionally, consumers will be able to extend the warranty on repaired equipment by one year.

Although the directive has already entered into force today, it has not automatically become applicable in all countries. We still have to wait a bit for that. Each member state has until 31 July 2026 to implement the directive into its own law.
