Koniec batalii o Joy-Cony. Gracze nie będą zachwyceni

The battle for Joy-Cons is over. Players won't be thrilled

Two class action lawsuits against Nintendo have ended. It's about the problem with “drifty” Joy-Cons.

Some people associate consoles primarily with games. Others remember primarily the technical problems that plagued the equipment for an entire generation. In case of Nintendo Switch The so-called problem falls into this category. “drifting” Joy-Cons.

What is it about? The fact that most controllers for the Nintendo mobile console develop a specific problem over time. The analog sticks do not return to their starting position, but start turning on their own in the selected direction. The problem is widely known and its cause is said to be the poor quality of components used by the manufacturer in production.

The problem is so broad that it has become the basis for several separate ones class action lawsuits aimed against the Japanese giant. Unfortunately, everything indicates that these will end without the result expected by many players.

Nintendo won. Lawsuits over “drifty” Joy-Cons have been withdrawn

Parties to two such proceedings (Diaz v. Nintendo and Carbajal v. Nintendo) they requested the withdrawal of the lawsuits. Unfortunately, we do not know whether this is the result of an out-of-court settlement or other factors. Either way, it can be assumed that this was not the outcome expected by other injured console owners, for whom the court's judgment could potentially constitute a solid basis for seeking compensation from the manufacturer.

On the other hand, it must be honestly admitted that the Japanese have never completely distanced themselves from the problem and have never left the players in the lurch. In 2020, the company issued an official apology, additionally offering free repair of faulty controllers. Unfortunately, it is only available in selected markets, and what's more, the basic problem that led to the defect was never solved.
