TeamGroup MP44Q, a combination of performance and capacity
The Taiwanese surprise once again. Their new SSDs, despite using theoretically “weaker” memory chips, promise to offer top performance.
What are the characteristics of a good SSD? For most consumers, the most important things are high reading and writing speeds, large capacity and, of course, low price. And it looks like that's exactly the kind of drive that's headed to the market. All thanks to a Taiwanese company TeamGroup and their new model.
TeamGroup MP44Q offers performance up to 7400 MB/s
TeamGroup MP44Q is a semiconductor medium in M.2 2280which uses the interface PCI Express 4.0 x4. It is DRAM-less design. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not reveal too many details about the specifications, so the controller used remains a secret. However, we know that memory was used 3D QLC NAND.
The Taiwanese had to reach for new generation dice from YMTC or Micronbecause the declared performance looks surprisingly good – at the level of 3D TLC NAND. We are talking about a maximum of 7400 MB/s for reading and 6500 MB/s for sequential writing, which is practically maximum PCIe 4.0 x4 capabilities.
There is no additional heat sink here, unless you count the sticker described by TeamGroup as “graphene”, so The SSD will fit both desktop computers, laptops and consoles.
The TeamGroup MP44Q series will debut on the market in the coming weeks, You will be able to choose between 1, 2 and 4 TB capacities. The manufacturer provides 5 years warranty limited by the saved data factor, which is 512, 1024 and 2045 TBW. Suggested prices haven't been announced, but QLC SSDs are mostly cheap.
