As reported by telewizjagorzow.pl, the Municipal Consumer Ombudsman in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Marta Petelska-Brodzińska, reported a new dangerous telephone fraud scheme. A typical case of this type of activity has just been reported to her office. The person who reported it was the victim of a carefully planned manipulation that took place in stages. The fraudsters’ goal was to extort as much money as possible.

Fraud withIt started with a phone call from a fake bank employee who informed the interlocutor that someone had taken out a loan using his details. Then, the conversation was taken over by an alleged “specialist” from another financial institution. During the call, references were made to the police, the prosecutor’s office and even the National Bank of Poland. However, this time the victim was intimidated by information about data leakage and criminal liability. The criminals also made sure that she was aware of the confidentiality of the investigation.

This meant a ban on contacting loved ones, as well as blocking the ability to check information on the Internet. The victim could actually have the impression that he was participating in secret operational activities.

Their goal was to persuade people to withdraw their own savings and take out loans from various financial institutions. All this under the guise of a secret operation and under the slogan of securing funds.

The scale of the loss suffered by the victim is so significant that he was able to buy an apartment or a car for the equivalent of the extorted amount. The entire matter has already been reported to the appropriate services and an investigation is underway.
