Microsoft has released a major update for Windows 10. It fixes a bug that prevented many important applications from being updated.

In the second half of November 2024, Microsoft confirmed that Windows 10 has problems updating and uninstalling apps from the Microsoft Store. The problem affected, among others, the Microsoft Teams app, used in many companies, but difficulties occurred when working with programs from many manufacturers. When trying to perform the mentioned actions, users saw an error message on the Microsoft side.

Updating and deleting applications was “broken” by WinAppSDK version 1.6.2, released on November 12, 2024. Although the faulty development tools were quickly withdrawn, they had already caused a lot of damage.
The bug has already been fixed and the only thing left to do is download the latest update. It has a number in the Microsoft knowledge base KB5046714. This latest patch for Windows 10 22H2not related to security. This makes the patch not mandatory, but it is worth installing.
In the patch description, Microsoft talks about fixed bugs in the plural, so it’s not the only item on the list. However, the rest were not described in detail.
