Spooky report: global warming is killing us. More and more victims
Health risk indicators have reached record levels – all because of climate warming, unfortunately caused by humans. As the latest edition of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change report indicates, the number of deaths caused by heat among older people has increased.
The last few months have been extremely unfavorable for us when it comes to climate change on Earth. Temperature records and violent weather phenomena such as floods in Poland, hurricanes in the USA or the recently flooded areas of Valencia, Spain, are just some of the phenomena from a whole wave of dangerous events. which also suffers from droughts and fires. However, the mentioned report warns that there are more disturbing signals.

48 percent land areas around the globe were affected by at least one month of extreme drought – the second highest in at least 70 years. In addition, the number of heat-related deaths among elderly people over 65 years of age in the case of events such as strokes increased by a record 167% compared to the 1990s.
More and more such intense weather phenomena also affect agriculture and problems with food supplies. Food insecurity increased by 151 million people in 124 countries assessed in 2022. In addition, there is also the transmission of dangerous infectious diseases such as malaria or dengue. The impact of heat on our physical activity and sleep quality is also important.
In 2023, exposure to heat exposed people engaging in outdoor physical activity to heat stress (moderate or greater) by a record 27.7%. higher than the average in the 1990s and led to a record 6 percent. more lost sleep time in 2023 compared to the average from 1986–2005

At this point, unfortunately, everything indicates that these problems will also intensify in Poland.
