South Korea changes its mind. Production is accelerated
However, SK hynix will not be slower than Samsung or Micron. The Koreans announced that mass production of GDRR7 will start earlier than previously announced.
Two days ago, in Telepolis, we informed you about the plans of the Korean giant in the memory market NAND and DRAM. Two different representatives SK hynix confirmed that mass production GDDR7 it is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2025, i.e. later than the competition. Currently, Koreans are backtracking on these words.
NVIDIA will be the first to offer graphics cards with GDDR7
As reported by the foreign editorial office of Tom's Hardware, the current SK hynix claims that mass production of their new graphics card memory will start in the fourth quarter of 2024. So it's the same as Samsung and Micron.
Last week at the fair Computex 2024 in Taiwan, SK hynix presented its first GDDR7 chips. The manufacturer promises systems with capacity 16 and 24 GB and speeds up to 40 GT/s. However, it should be assumed that this year we will see weaker variants, probably 16 Gb and 32 Gbps like the competition.

The first consumer products with GDRR7 are to be graphics cards NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000which is scheduled to premiere at the end of this year. However, the new memories will only be available in higher-positioned systemsand cheaper models will continue to use the older GDDR6 and GDDR6X.

Samsung and Micron have already announced that they have sent the first test units to selected partners – probably NVIDIA. SK hynix has not yet issued a similar statement. However, it can be safely assumed that the Greens also received memory bones from the Koreans.
