Sony will be releasing games at the same time on PS5 and PC, but there's a catch
Hermen Hulst from PlayStation announced that the Japanese manufacturer's games will be available on PC and PlayStation 5 at the same time. However, there is a catch, because this does not apply to all productions.
For several years now, Sony has also started publishing its games on computers. It usually looks like this: productions that were released on consoles a few years earlier are released on PCs. This way, players had to wait for Spider-Man, God of War or Horizon. However, recently Helldiver 2 was released on PC and PS5 at the same time. This was not a coincidence.
Sony will also release games for PCs
Hermen Hulst from PlayStation announced that the Japanese manufacturer's games will be available on PC and PlayStation 5 at the same time. There's nothing left to do but enjoy, right? Turns out not, because there is a catch, and a pretty powerful one at that. This approach of the Japanese applies only to service games, i.e. titles such as Helldiver 2.
At the same time, all single-player, story-focused games will still be released only on PlayStation 5 first. This applies to productions like Spider-Man, God of War, Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima. Computer owners will still have to wait for them.
Where does this approach come from? In this way, Sony wants to encourage computer owners to buy the console. If they liked Spider-Man or God of War on PC, they may be tempted to switch to PlayStation 5 to play the next installment of the series. I'm sure not everyone will like it, but the tactic itself can bring the expected result.
