Shopping, bills and offices without clicking. Google is testing a revolution in Chrome
The world’s most popular web browser is about to change significantly. Google Chrome got it as a test mode “auto browse”which allows Gemini’s assistant independently perform complex tasks online, from online shopping to filling out forms, paying bills or dealing with official matters. According to the company this real time saving.
The new option is currently paid and available only in the USA
In the posted demo, a user can be seen asking Gemini to purchase decorations on Etsy to match the Gmail artwork. The AI automatically goes to the store’s website, adds products to the cart, and even personalizes one of them by entering the slogan “Y2K Party”. Finally, it presents a summary and gives the user the decision to finalize the payment. In another example, auto browse mode retrieves data from a document and uses it to automatically fill out an online form.
However, Google admits that the solution is not perfect yet. During the show for journalists, the AI was supposed to re-order a previously purchased jacket in the same size and check available discounts. The system asked for access to the login data saved in Chrome, but it took significantly longer for it to complete the command than for a human.
Auto browse mode will come to the US first and will only be available to paid Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriberscosting $20 and $250 per month, respectively. Additionally, daily query limits apply. Pro allows for 20 tasks a day, Ultra for 200, and it is possible to run several tasks in parallel.
It is not known whether and when Auto Browse will be available to free users. And Google still has a lot of work ahead of it, especially since similar solutions – including: From OpenAI or Perplexity – still raise concerns about privacy, hallucinations and prompt injection attacks.
