The man made several transfers and lost a total of PLN 77,000. He did not get the money back, but he reported the matter to the police and warns others against this type of fraud.
A 77-year-old resident of the Zamość region decided to take his fate into his own hands and multiply his fortune. While browsing the Internet, he came across an advertisement about an investment that guaranteed quick profits. Tempted by the offer, he decided to find out a little more about the details and called the telephone number provided in the advertisement. The interlocutor presented the principles of investing in the alleged stock exchange in quite detail and actually everything sounded very credible. There was only one “but”. To start cooperation, you had to deposit $250 (approximately PLN 1,000). The senior has chosen to bear this upfront cost. And that’s how his adventure with investing began.
A few days later he contacted him“broker-custodian”. It presented the entire investment in even more detail and showed charts illustrating the potential profit. Encouraged by the fact that everything was going so well and the forecasts were promising, the man, as suggested, made a few more transfers required to start.
The problem arose when the 77-year-old decided to withdraw the money he had earned. It turned out that the funds could be collected only after depositing PLN 12,000 to the account provided by the broker. To make such a payment, the man borrowed money from his family and made a transfer. However, time passed and there was no prospect of the promised funds being paid. There was still contact, but suddenly difficulties began to arise. There was a need to “stop unfavorable stock exchange rates”, and there was a need to “pay for a license” or “convert dollars into Polish zlotys”. The extortion of money lasted for several months and before the man realized it, he had been robbed for a total of PLN 77,000.
After this time, the man began to suspect that he had fallen victim to fraud. The next step was to report everything to the police in Zamość.
The police warn that online offers promising quick profits are most often an attempt at fraud. Let’s never make hasty decisions on our own and let’s analyze each such investment with trusted people.
