Radeon RX 8000 graphics cards will not impress

Reports show that Radeon RX 8000 graphics cards with RDNA 4 architecture are not something worth waiting for.

There have been rumors circulating for several weeks that AMD intends to abandon the new generation of graphics cards. The Reds will release new models from the Radeon RX 8000 series, but these are to be aimed at less demanding users. The latest reports regarding VRAM memory partially confirm this.

AMD Radeon RX 8000

Kepler, well-known and often quoted in the industry, provided interesting information about Radeon RX 8000 graphics cards. He wrote on Twitter that the new generation of Reds will use GDDR6 18 Gbps memory. For comparison, the GeForce RTX 50 series models are to be equipped with GDDR7 28 Gbps chips, so the difference between them will be significant.

On the one hand, such reports are surprising, but on the other – if you follow all the reports carefully – they are not surprising. As I have already mentioned, the Radeon RX 8000 series is supposed to be transitional for AMD in some way. The Reds are to give up the fight against NVIDIA and focus on low- and mid-range designs. In this case, using slower memory seems to make sense. Thanks to this, they can be offered at very attractive prices.

We can only hope that Intel with its Battlemage series models will be able to take up the challenge and fight with NVIDIA. Otherwise, the Greens will be able to impose prohibitive prices for their GPUs, because there will be no reasonable alternative for them, at least in terms of performance.
