Polish Google Maps with a big change. A piece of history is going to the trash bin
Since yesterday, Polish users of the Google Maps application could notice a drastic change. The iconic voice is no longer present, and instead a more artificial one appears.
Many people still remember the times when going on vacation or a business trip was practically impossible without having a car atlas in the glove compartment. It allowed us to plan a route or find a detour when a given road was impassable.
Jarosław Juszkiewicz is replaced by AI
However, for many years now, most drivers have been using 21st century improvements when traveling outside the areas they know. All you need to do is reach for your smartphone to have maps from all over the world with the GPS function. It remained one of the most popular solutions Google Mapswhich changed drastically yesterday.
The voice of Polish Google Maps has been a well-known radio journalist and voice-over artist for 15 years, Jarosław Juszkiewicz. On Tuesday evening, however, he stayed replaced by artificial intelligence. This is not the first such case, Americans reached for AI in Poland three and a half years ago. But then user dissatisfaction and a wave of negative reviews application led to the change being rolled back.

Jarosław Juszkiewicz found out about his replacement by artificial intelligence by accident. All thanks to a journalist friend. He says he feels a bit sorry, but realizes that it was inevitable. He emphasizes how great an adventure this period was and how much recognition it gave him. He was reportedly accosted by strangers on the street many times.
Is there a chance that the boycott by Poles will make Jarosław Juszkiewicz return for a second time? I don’t think so. As the person himself noted, AI is currently much more popular and better, and people have gotten used to it. Either way, the owner of an iconic voice has no time for boredom – in addition to working at Radio 357, he also conducts voice training and runs a voiceover recording company.
For people who cannot imagine driving around Poland without the company of Jarosław Juszkiewicz there is a solution. Just change the navigation application. The popular voice-over can also be heard in Yanosik.
